Understand the Plans!

Part A covers things like impatient hospital stays, care in a nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care. There is no monthly premium and deductibles/copays may vary depending on the service.

Part B covers doctor visits, outpatient care, medical supplies, preventative services, mental health services, laboratory tests, rehabilitation services and In home health care. There Is a monthly premium, as well as an annual deductible. The beneficiary is responsible for 20% of a medical bill, and 80% is covered.

Part C covers all things included in Part A and Part B, and also often times will cover Part D. This coverage Is all Included In one plan from a private Insurance company. The cost Includes a monthly premium which varies depending on the Insurance company. With plans that also cover Part D, there may be an annual prescription deductible.

Part D, or prescription drug plan, covers medications. The cost varies, and Is not offered directly through medicare or medicaid. However, It Is part of the medicare program through an approval plan with a private Insurance company.
